April Tritchler

April Tritchler is a lonaprilminnieg-time fanatic of the stage. As a child she used to put on “shows” with her little sister. This usually involving dancing and singing along to“The Little Mermaid”. As she grew older, she expanded her performing skills by venturing into school plays, choirs and musicals. In High School, she performed in “Bye, Bye, Birdie”, “Guys and Dolls”, “Crazy for You”, “Once upon a Mattress”, and “Brigadoon”. In college, she performed in the Utah State University’s one-act play festival where she played Frankie in “Frankie and Johnny and the Claire de Lune”. After this performance, she felt the pressure to be able to make actual money and she resigned herself to being a fan of the theater rather than a participant.

During this hiatus, April had the good fortune of meeting and marrying Jeremy Tritchler, a man who shared her love of the theater, but who had also put aside performing for a more “stable” career of Geology. She finished her schooling and with a Master’s degree in architecture, April got a random invite from a high-school friend who was putting on a show and needed more girls. Happy to have a chance to jump back into the theater, this time as a hobby, April played the role of Lady Lucille in the Empress Theatre’s production of “Once upon a Mattress”. This production opened the flood-gates for a near constant stream of productions ever since.

Thrilled to be back on the stage, April has played several roles at theaters all across the Valley including Lucy Van Pelt in “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” in Midvale where she was able to drag her husband back onto the stage as her “Schroeder”. She has also performed as Easement Sullen in “Y-Light”, Christine Daee in “Phantom of the OBT” and Miss Lucy in “Charlie’s Aunt” all at the Off Broadway Theater, and Laurie Williams in “Oklahoma” back at the Empress. And, of course, April has had the great pleasure of working with Poison Ivy Mysteries, again with her adorable husband.

apriljanetApril has performed with Poison Ivy Mysteries in three different roles: first as Diane Jones in “Club Mystique”, then Calamity Janet in “Justice at the Gold Dust” and Minnesota Minnie in “Curse of the Scarab”. She has greatly enjoyed working with this company. Poison Ivy’s fun and relaxed work environment as well as the goofy actors and actresses she’s worked with have given her lots of laughs and amusement as well as challenges. “Poison Ivy has been really great for me as an actress to be able to expand and hone my skills. Having to interact with the audience and stay in character through all the quirky accusations and random questions has really helped me work on my improvising skills.” The most enjoyable thing for her this time around is to have the pleasure of falling in love with her husband over and over again each night.
